Dongfeng

DongFeng (East Wind in Chinese Mandarin), one of China's top three automotive companies, was established in 1969 by the Chinese government. Dongfeng has commanded a leading position in the Chinese automotive industry ever since. After more than thirty years of construction, Dongfeng has formed several major production facilities, which are distributed in Shiyan ( mainly engaged in the production of medium duty and heavy duty commercial vehicles, auto parts and components and vehicle manufacturing equipments), Xiangfan ( mainly engaged in the production of light duty commercial vehicles and passenger vehicles), Wuhan ( mainly engaged in the production of passenger vehicles) and Guangzhou ( mainly engaged in the production of passenger vehicles). Major businesses of the company include the manufacture of whole serial commercial vehicles, passenger vehicles, auto parts and components, as well as vehicle manufacturing equipments and engines. At present, the product mix in its automaking business is equally divided between commercial vehicles and passenger vehicles. By the end of 2004, total asset of DongFeng amounts to RMB 76.89 billion, with a net asset of RMB 33.9 billion and a total number of 106,000 registered staff.

Entering the new century, DongFeng focuses on participating in international competition and cooperation. Complying with the development strategy of “ developing during integrating, cooperating during competing, growing stronger and bigger, building strength first”, DongFeng rapidly expanded its passenger vehicle business by aligning itself with leading international automotive companies. It successively entered into joint ventures for the manufacture of passenger vehicles with Nissan Motor Co., Ltd, Honda Motor Co., Ltd and Kia Motors Corporation. It expanded and promoted its scope of operations of Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën Automobiles Limited to include the manufacture of Peugeot passenger cars in addition to the Citroën passenger cars already manufactured by it.

Chery

Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. was founded by five Anhui’s local state-owned investment companies with a registered capital of RMB 1.752 billion in 1997. The construction of the first plant in Wuhu commenced on March 18, 1997. In 2006, it accomplished a sales volume of 305,200, an increase of 62% over the same period of the previous year, and had a share of 7.2% of the Chinese car market, ranking 4th in the Chinese passenger car industry, thus showing its great strength in marching into the first camp of the Chinese car industry having been long monopolized by Chinese-foreign jointly-funded brands and taking a commanding lead among independently managed car enterprises.

In 2007, Chery achieved a historical milestone reflecting the domestic emergence of China's growing industrial strength. In that year, it sold a total of 381,000 passenger cars in global market which represented an increase of 24.8% over the previous year, among which the overseas sales volume had doubled again with a sharp increase of 132%, reaching 119,800 units.

Since its products entered the market, Chery has attached great importance to developing the international and domestic markets, guided by the principle of “stabilizing through the domestic market, strengthening through the overseas market and developing the domestic market through the oversea market in a flexible way” and with the strategy of “going out”, it became China’s first car enterprise exporting complete vehicles, CKD, engines and vehicle manufacture technology and equipment to foreign countries. So far, it has exported products to over 50 countries and regions in the world with its car export volume ranking 1st for four years in a row in China.

Chery now owns a full set of manufacturing and R & D systems, including two car plants, two engine plants, a gearbox plant, an automobile engineering research institute and an automobile planning and design institute. It has so far a total staff of 20,000, total assets of RMB over 14 billions and an annual production capacity of 400,000 complete vehicles, 400,000 engines and 300,000 sets of gearboxes. Its current products include nine series (Eastar, Cowin, Tiggo, A5, V5, QQ3, QQ6, Karry and A1) of complete vehicles and their auxiliary engines, gearboxes, key parts and components. By the end of this year, Chery will become one of the passenger car manufacturers offering most varieties of products and most complete product series to the market in China. Chery is also associated with Chrysler Motors, Alfa Romeo and Fiat is different joint ventures.

Wuling

SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile Co., Ltd, is cooperated by three partners: Shanghai Automobile Industry (Group) Company, General Motors and Wuling Automobile Co., Ltd, and was established on Nov.18th, 2002.

With a production above 350,000 mini vehicles in the first half of 2008, SAIC-GM-WULING control 46% of the Chinese market and is the #1 world manufacturer of mini commercial vehicles.

SGMW covers 790,000 square meters with more than 4,000 employees, integrating Press, Body, Paint & General Assembly.

SGMW has the national-level Technical Development Center and PhD Scientific Research Base, implementing C3P (CAD/CAE/CAM/PDM) automobile development technology research projects. Currently, the company produces more than 200 models in five categories, including commercial vehicle, rear box mini-van, double cab pick-up, single-cab pick-up and mini-passenger’s car. The new commercial vehicle “Wuling Sunshine”, developed by SGMW itself, becomes leader in China, and follows the requirement of GM global manufacturing standards. Beside the Wuling brand vehicle, SGMW also produce Chevrolet Spark for domestic market.

Under the leadership of its three shareholders, SGMW introduce advanced concept and management systems to boost enterprise process.
